Congressman Beyer Presents Award to Neighborhood Health Nurse Manager
Congressman Don Beyer joined our virtual staff meeting in January to present the Clara Mortenson Beyer Women and Children First Award to Neighborhood Health Nurse Manager Mary Hill!
Mary Hill joined Neighborhood Health as a Nurse Case Manager in the Ryan White program. She quickly became a favorite resource for our HIV patients who relied on her knowledge and caring while navigating their treatments. Mary’s strong leadership and gift for patient rapport led to strong improvements in patient outcomes. Last year, Mary was promoted to Nurse Manager, where in addition to overseeing nursing at our Alexandria medical clinics, she has led the COVID testing team. Mary is currently involved in rolling out Neighborhood Health’s COVID vaccine efforts. Mary’s warmth, humor, and ability to connect with patients from all backgrounds and ages make her a very effective and healing presence in our health center.
Representative Beyer created the Clara Mortenson Beyer Women and Children First Award while Ambassador to Switzerland in 2011. It is named after his grandmother, who is credited with convincing the Roosevelt Administration to appoint Frances Perkins, the first female Cabinet Secretary in the United States.
