Primary Care at Neighborhood Health
PATIENT CENTERED
Everyone at Neighborhood Health has a deep commitment to the health and well-being of our patients regardless of their background or circumstances. Our patients are the reason that we do this work. We strive to provide care that aligns with our patients' goals and preferences.
COMPREHENSIVE
We provide primary care for the whole family. Our model of care is both comprehensive and integrated and includes not only medical care but also behavioral health, dental care, medication assistance, labs, case management, and referral to community resources – all in one setting.
Affordable
Health care costs are a burden for too many families. For low-income patients with high copays or deductibles or without insurance, we offer a discounted sliding fee scale. We accept Medicaid. And we help our patients obtain low cost medications and other resources.
ACCESSIBLE
We strive to be accessible to our patients. We have clinics in multiple neighborhoods across Northern Virginia. We offer our patients same day and next day appointments and evening and weekend options at some locations. Our staff speak multiple languages. Our patients have access to an online patient portal and an after-hours advice line.
QUALITY
We strive to provide our patients with the highest quality primary care. Neighborhood Health has a highly qualified and dedicated team of health care professionals. We have consistently won awards for quality metrics including a National Quality Leader award for performing among the top 5% of health centers nationally.
SAFETY
Patient safety is a top priority at Neighborhood Health. We are accredited by the Joint Commission under its ambulatory care standards. We actively promote a culture of safety across the organization and work towards the highest patient safety standards.

Our History
In partnership with our community, we have been working to expand access to health care in Northern Virginia for more than twenty five years.
In 1994, the Alexandria Health Department opened a clinic in a small apartment, the Arlandria Clinic for Women and Children. After three years, the clinic became a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, Alexandria Neighborhood Health Services, Inc.
More than twenty-five years later, Neighborhood Health is a non-profit Federally Qualified Health Center that serves more than 40,000 patients in multiple clinics across Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax County.
