Supporting Patients Beyond the Screening 

Our work does not end when a cancer screening is completed. If a result requires additional attention, Neighborhood Health helps patients understand the next steps and connect with appropriate follow-up services. 

This ongoing support is essential. Healthcare systems can be difficult to navigate, particularly for patients who are uninsured or more comfortable communicating in a language other than English. By guiding patients through referrals and follow-up care, our teams help ensure that concerning findings do not go unaddressed. 

Neighborhood Health’s commitment to cancer prevention has earned national recognition. The Health Resources and Services Administration named Neighborhood Health a 2026 National Quality Leader for Cancer Screening and awarded the organization its Cancer Screening Badge. Neighborhood Health was the only Federally Qualified Health Center in Virginia to receive this distinction. 

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we celebrate the providers, care teams, navigators, community partners, and supporters who make this work possible. We are especially grateful to the Brem Foundation for helping patients overcome transportation barriers and receive the mammograms they need.
