COVID-19 Vaccine Equity: Reaching marginalized communities
At Neighborhood Health we are focused on increasing equity in the vaccine rollout here in Northern Virginia. To that end, we have set up four vaccination sites in areas accessible to the communities we are trying to reach. This includes sites in the Route 1/Richmond Highway Corridor, Bailey’s Crossroads, Arlandria, and near our Casey Health Center in Alexandria. Thanks to the work of our staff and volunteers we have administered 10,000 vaccines to date with more than 85% of recipients being people of color, particularly Hispanic and Black residents.

We at Neighborhood Health stand in solidarity with the Black community and against systemic racism and injustice.
May 22, 2020 – Letter from Dr. Khan, Executive Director
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to disproportionately affect our patient population. Our testing results are still showing high rates of infection with approximately 50% coming back positive. Our hope is that by continuing to ramp up testing, providing support to affected families, and assisting with contact tracing and isolation efforts, we can help turn the corner for our patients, families, and communities.
