Ms. McWilliams provides individual and family therapy to children, adolescents, and adults and utilizes a strength-based, solution-focused framework to collaborate with and support clients through life’s challenges and struggles.

Prior to Neighborhood Health, Ms. McWilliams practiced in a variety of settings gaining experience with a diverse range of populations and issues. She worked as a School-Based Mental Health Therapist in a school for children with emotional and behavioral challenges. Ms. McWilliams worked as a Psychiatric Crisis Intervention Therapist helping clients safely prevent the need for hospitalization. She also worked as an Outpatient Therapist in a mental health clinic and as an Intensive Family Preservation Therapist helping clients to better meet the challenges of raising children. In graduate school she completed clinical internships providing therapy to those affected by HIV/AIDS as well as providing trauma therapy to survivors of sexual abuse and domestic violence.

Ms. McWilliams holds a Master of Social Work degree from Syracuse University specializing in clinical social work. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, a Bachelor of Arts in Women’s Studies, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Women’s Studies. In 2012, she obtained her clinical licensure in Virginia and is a member in good standing of National Association of Social Workers.
