Dr. Sims grew up in Texas. He received an undergraduate degree in molecular biology from the University of Colorado and graduated from Rush Medical School in Chicago. He returned to Texas to complete his internal medicine residency. He has a special interest in health care for the underserved. He has made many trips to Central America as a volunteer doctor. His work with immigrant patients has allowed him to pursue his passion for languages. He regularly uses Spanish and French, and is working on several others. He is an avid runner and has completed three marathons. He has a master’s in theology which allows him to combine his interests in medicine and ethics. Dr. Sims is married to his high school sweetheart and has four children. The oldest is a pediatrician at Children's Hospital in DC. The youngest is a social worker.
